Sam’s Hilton Head Island Area Update
Sunny Greetings from Beautiful Hilton Head Island! Well, now that the island is “opening up” we’re seeing ALOT of out of state license plates! Our area has been sheltering in place for the most part but it’s been difficult to do with the weather being sunny in the low 80’s every day! As of today, most restaurants are open with limited seating due to new safety rules regarding social distancing of tables. But when the weather is this gorgeous, who wants to sit inside! Rental companies are taking reservations for weekly rentals again. Public events like all of our food, art, & “beverage” festivals are still not taking place due to social distancing but it doesn’t seem to bother that many since most people are on the beach, playing golf or tennis (or pickleball), boating, biking or just relaxing & doing nothing!
Regarding real estate (especially in this desirable area of Hilton Head Island) obviously, the numbers are down for the most part except for “higher-priced properties. I searched for condos & homes that have gone under contract since January & especially the last 30 days of $1 million or higher & the numbers are “through the roof!” Click here to view condos & homes that have gone Under Contract in the $1,000,000 & Up range & notice the under contract date That is an amazing stat!
If you’re looking to take out a mortgage & want to take advantage of the extremely low-interest rates I would strongly advise having a local mortgage person here get you pre-approved. Driving here is very cheap right now since the gas prices are the lowest they’ve been in decades! I think that’s another reason why we’re going to rebound much quicker than other areas ~ we’re definitely in driving distance. Another strong reason is over 70% of vacationers coming here rent condos or homes ~ that’s money in YOUR pocket if you are looking for rental income. Charleston, Myrtle Beach & other areas have mostly hotels/motels & with the new social distancing, wouldn’t you rather stay in a residence instead of a hotel when on vacation? Here’s a new change in lifestyle regarding work ~Many of us have realized that we are fortunate to be able to work from our homes. Why not think seriously about moving here & working out of your home if you can?
