I am fortunate to be able to travel extensively for my work, and have seen many amazing
places – Rome, St. Petersburg, Capetown, London and Nairobi are among the highlights.
Having some real estate on Hilton Head Island as a home base, I inherited a wonderful
welcome every time I fly back from the rest of the world.
There is nothing like looking out of your airplane window and taking in the beauty of this island
and the surrounding Low Country as you come in for a landing. It has been 18 years now and it
never gets old.
People who do not live here do not grasp that not only are the towns of Hilton Head and
Bluffton lovely to visit, but making a life here is real, and it can be a great life. You just need to
go with the flow. And that flow is usually pretty slow moving, so prepare to ease up on the gas
and look around: Spanish Moss draped Live Oaks, unspoiled beaches, great golf courses,
intriguing history and all the sweet tea you can drink.
No matter where my travels take me, I am always fixin’ to drink me some sweet tea when I get
back home, to the Low Country.
